Hawaii - an EV Ready State

Hawaii is the most ideally suited State in the country for EVs. HCATT has initiated a project to make Hawaii the first State to be EV Ready with rapid charging infrastructure. Through a joint venture involving the Hawaiian Electric Company and Hawaii Electric Vehicles, Inc., HCATT installed AeroVironment PosiCharge® Rapid Charging Systems on the island of Oahu.

These systems set the industry standard for rapid chargers and are state-of-the-art, UL approved. This rapid charging infrastructure will allow motorists to charge their electric vehicles in a matter of minutes rather than hours with conventional charging. Hawaii will serve as the model EV Ready State. Plans call for rapid chargers to be installed on the neighbor islands if and when the quantity of EVs increases to a level that necessitates rapid charging.
