Hawaii Innovation Center at HiloStrategically located in the Hilo business district on the Island of Hawaii, the 8000-square foot Hawaii Innovation Center at Hilo (HICH) is owned by the University of Hawaii at Hilo (www.uhh.hawaii.edu) and operated in partnership with the High Technology Development Corporation. HICH, designated as a small business incubator, has one fully-equipped conference or training room, onsite building maintenance and janitorial services, photocopier and fax machine, and presentation equipment. The two-story Center is conveniently located near banking facilities, printers, a post office, restaurants, and shops, and is just minutes from the airport and the University of Hawaii at Hilo campus.

For start-up companies that require a total support package, HTDC created the Tech Center Program to offer clients a combination of subsidized facility rates in addition to a variety of business support program services.

University of Hawai`i HiloCriteria for Occupancy at HICH
Criteria for occupancy at HICH varies slightly from that of HTDC's other facilities. When applying for office space at HICH, please refer to the guidelines below:

  • Eligible businesses must be based in Hilo or on the Island of Hawaii,
  • Preference may be given to companies with a technology-based product or service,
  • Applications for general office space use only will be accepted.

Procedure for Applying

The admission process includes the following components:

  • Submission of a completed application form with business plan,
  • A personal interview with the High Technology Development Corporation,
  • Submission of personal and/or company financial statements (balance sheets, profit & loss statement, business plan including 1-year pro forma statement),
  • Due diligence (may include personal and/or company credit checks, bank and trade reference checks).
