Grant Thornton LLP - Patrick Oki
Patrick H. Oki is an assurance partner in the Honolulu office of Grant Thornton LLP. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Mr. Oki spent over 13 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers servicing public and private companies in the Hawaii market. In addition to providing assurance services to middle market companies, Mr. Oki was the practice leader for PwC’s advisory group in Honolulu. Mr. Oki has experience in assisting Hawaii companies on improving their internal controls including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and business process improvement work. As a certified fraud examiner, Mr. Oki has conducted numerous forensic and fraud investigations and has performed various litigation and bankruptcy support work in Hawaii. He also specializes in mergers and acquisitions in the hospitality industry.
In 1999 and 2000, Mr. Oki was employed by a Hawaii venture capital-backed high-tech company where he helped develop and manage the company’s finance, human resources and accounting functions. Since returning back to public accounting, Mr. Oki has been an advisor to several high-tech companies in Hawaii. Working for a high-tech start-up company and directly with its investors gave him many new experiences and additional knowledge. Mr. Oki received hands-on experience in developing accounting and human resources systems including implementing policies and procedures; producing budgets, forecasts and financial models; writing business plans; and fundraising.
Mr. Oki is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also the treasurer and board member of the University of Hawaii Alumni Association and the IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre.
