Basic Eligibility Requirements for SBIR/STTR Funding:
- Applicant is Small Business Concern (500 or fewer employees, including affiliates)
- Organized as a for-profit U.S. business
- Majority U.S.- owned by individuals and independently operated (or at least 51% owned and controlled by another (one) business concern that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more individuals)
- Principal Investigator’s primary employment must be with small business concern at time of award and for duration of project period
- Research Institutions can be a partner on an SBIR project; and is a required collaborator on an STTR
