HITech Story with Caroline Lee

Event Details

Join us for our second HITech Story Speaker Series with special guest Caroline Lee.

Caroline Lee is a Silicon Valley native, proud aunt to 5 nieces and a nephew, a co-founder Wipeout Cancer (a 501c3 nonprofit), cancer thriver, Talent Acquisition leader, and aspiring American Ninja Warrior!
Caroline earned a BS in Cybernetics at UCLA while training and competing on its nationally-ranked Division I gymnastics team as a scholarship athlete. Her first job brought her back to the San Francisco Bay Area as a computer programmer with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). As she honed her programming and project management skills on large scale technical client engagements, she realized through participating in local office recruiting events, her passion was to combine her capabilities into running large scale recruiting operations and programs. She transitioned into the Recruiting function at Andersen Consulting and never looked back! Since then, she’s headed strategic recruiting initiatives at a wide variety of global enterprise companies (Accenture, McKesson, eBay, LinkedIn) and Silicon Valley tech startups (Epinions.com).
Caroline has always loved participating in sports and continues her passion and participation to this day. She transitioned from collegiate gymnastics to take on volleyball, flying trapeze, mountain biking, triathlons, and ice hockey. In 2010, Caroline was selected to compete on Wipeout, the reality competition TV show. She powered through a number of crazy obstacles to win her episode (Season 3, episode 11) to take home the $50,000 grand prize! Shortly thereafter, despite being in top physical shape, Caroline was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer.
With the support of family and friends, she was able to overcome this setback, and return to both her professional career and weekend-warrior-on-steroids activities. As part of her recovery, Caroline felt the need to give back and thus co-founded Wipeout Cancer, a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring sports opportunities to kids living with cancer.
In 2018, Caroline experienced a cancer relapse. After surgery and radiation, Caroline re-prioritized her outlook on life – what does she want to do with her restored energy and passion? She is now aiming to become an American Ninja Warrior! In the last year, she's competed in numerous ninja competitions, tested obstacles for the show American Ninja Warrior, and has said good-bye to her corporate career to fully dedicate her professional skills and physical abilities to open and run a ninja warrior gym in the SF Bay Area!
HITech Story is a monthly speaker series that provides the opportunity to interact with and learn from successful leaders and guest lecturers from some of Silicon Valley's top tech companies.
Each month, the HITech Story Speaker Series will provide an inclusive and interactive environment for attendees to "talk story" with high-level professionals in an intimate setting and network with the local business community. Events will include a presentation by the guest lecturer, followed by a Q&A and light pupus and refreshments.
The series is always free and open to the public though RSVPs are required to save you a seat.
