Kailua Kona is a unique example of the Hawaiian experience. You won't find high end dining or shopping options but you will find world class fishing, scuba diving/snorkeling, coffee farms, and lots of lava rock formations.
Kona is on the "Big Island" of Hawaii. The Big Island has a lot to offer including white/black/green sand beaches, active volcanos including lava flow that you can see, beautiful valleys and lookout points, and much more. Take note: O'ahu (Honolulu, Waikiki) is not the same as The Big Island!
