The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) is one of the largest sources of seed capital in the U.S. that supports R&D and financing of cutting edge technologies.
 
While SBIR/STTR grant funding can be a great opportunity, it’s a highly competitive program with a complex application process. This session will cover the SBIR/STTR basics, and will highlight key issues for university faculty and staff need to consider (e.g., eligibility, funding levels, partnering requirements, selecting the principal investigator, etc.) before pursuing this type of funding. We will discuss tools to help you identify SBIR/STTR funding opportunities, resources for preparing competitive proposals, and ways to avoid common pitfalls in SBIR/STTR applications.
