Overview

HTDC has partnered with state and local government agencies to create new infrastructure to support the growing tech and innovation economy.

Entrepreneurs Sandbox

The Entrepreneurs Sandbox will be a community center for innovation. Open to all ages, people will be able to learn how to bring their ideas into reality. The Sandbox will house a maker space, digital media studio and production facility. The Sandbox is expected to be completed in 2019.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

The Sandbox will be open to the public. People will learn to create a prototype for their idea at the Maker Space. The Digital Media and Production Studio will teach community members how to bring their video, game, or animation to market. The large collaboration space will be ideal for town hall meetings and community gatherings. The Sandbox will also feature a videoconference room and office space for rent.

Agriculture Tech Park

The Agriculture Tech Park will help farmers reduce costs through shared production and distribution center. Farmers will also have access to support services and resources, as well as to new agriculture technologies. The Whitmore Village Ag Tech Park is a project of the Agriculture Development Corporation under the Hawaii Department of Agriculture.

First Responder Tech Campus

The Cyber Security & First Responder will be a community space for the State of Hawaii and City & County of Honolulu for joint training and operations. Located at the Tech Park in Central Oahu, it will provide space for police, fire, public safety, emergency services, technology services, and the Hawaii National Guard. This project is in the early stages of development, click here for a status report.

Innovation and Manufacturing Center

The Innovation and Manufacturing Center will support the technology and manufacturing industries in Hilo. The concept will create a facility that supports assists a variety of light manufacturing capabilities. It would also help develop the workforce skills for high school and college students. This project is in the planning stages.
