September 26, 2024 – PRESS RELEASE

HONOLULU – The Pacific Tech 2024 Conference is merging with the 2024 Pacific Defense Contracting Summit for the first time, leveraging the crucial role Hawaiʻi plays as a hub for both emerging technologies and U.S. military operations and providing even greater opportunities for businesses to engage with the U.S. Department of Defense. The Pacific Tech conference has long served to bring together small businesses and government- and private-sector opportunities to bring their innovations to market. The focus will be on developing solutions for critical national challenges, including ones to support U.S. warfighters.

Hosted by the Hawai‘i Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) and supported in part by the Small Business Administration (SBA), Pacific Tech 2024 is scheduled for October 28-29, 2024 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center in Honolulu. The event will bring together influential participants, including program managers from America’s Seed Fund (Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR)), contracting officers, transition programs from multiple agencies, technology scouts from multiple Combatant Commands, WERX construction management software program managers, and prime contractors seeking innovative small business partners.

Opportunities for Small Businesses

Pacific Tech 2024 is designed for small and medium-sized companies looking to grow. Attendees will access crucial funding vehicles, government contracts and partnerships with prime contractors. The conference will highlight new business funding for research and development, as well as venture capital, prize challenges, and teaming opportunities.

Key presentations from federal agencies and U.S. military branches will provide insights into contracting priorities in the Indo-Pacific region. In addition to government contracts, businesses will explore private financing options to further their growth.

“Small and medium-sized tech and innovation companies are encouraged to attend the conference,” said Wayne Inouye, HTDC’s acting executive director. “This year’s focus is on bringing small business resources and funding opportunities to Hawai‘i.”

More Than Just Networking

Pacific Tech 2024 offers structured events that go beyond typical networking. The Tech Showcase and one-on-one meetings allow companies to present their innovations directly to decision-makers, while panel discussions and informational sessions will focus on critical contracting priorities, teaming arrangements, transition assistance programs, rapid acquisition pathways like Other Transaction Authority (OTA), and WERX programs.

What’s at Stake?

With growing demands for technological advances in the Indo-Pacific region, the Pacific Tech 2024 Conference provides small businesses with a crucial entry point into government funding. The conference not only offers access to near-future contracts but also provides an opportunity for companies to contribute solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing the nation.
