HONOLULU – The Hawai‘i Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) announced the appointment of Trung Lam as its new executive director. A respected business leader and longtime supporter of Hawai‘i’s innovation economy, Lam brings more than 20 years of leadership experience and a commitment to advancing technology in ways that reflect local values and global opportunity.
Lam most recently served as Head of Community at ThriveHI, where he helped activate cross-sector networks, uniting entrepreneurs, investors and institutions to foster growth in Hawai‘i’s tech and startup ecosystem. His work focused on building alignment across the public and private sectors to support a thriving innovation economy rooted in the unique strengths of the islands.
Lam’s leadership experience spans executive roles in food manufacturing, the restaurant industry and nonprofit organizations. A champion of economic diversification and impact-driven leadership, he has been recognized as a Pacific Business News “40 Under 40” honoree and a recipient of the prestigious JCI USA Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA) award.
“I’m eager to step into this role at HTDC and excited to work alongside our partners to grow a tech ecosystem that creates economic opportunity, drives innovation and provides high-quality jobs for residents,” Lam said. “Our future depends on building industries that reflect both our values and our potential.” As executive director, Lam will lead HTDC’s mission to accelerate the development of Hawai‘i’s innovation and technology sector and support the creation of high-wage career pathways for local communities.
