About the Presenters: Doug Goodman supports the Engineering Integration and Science Directorate at the Johnson Space Center as part of the SBIR Office. He coordinates and conducts outreach to small business concerns and research institutions, focusing on small business start-ups and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs). He has engaged the public sector through SBIR Road Tours, conferences, and visits to MSIs. He also develops technology success stories for public release.
Mr. Goodman has worked for NASA as a contractor since 1999 and has worked for Jacobs since 2008. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Psychology and obtained his Master of Arts degree in Technical Writing from Northern Illinois University in 1999. He was awarded a Silver Snoopy, one of NASA’s highest honors, in 2012 for work in archiving Engineering Directorate records for the Space Shuttle Program and is also the recipient of a NASA Silver Achievement Medal in 2018.
Walt Ugalde is an Economic Development and Industry Outreach Executive for NASA’s Technology Transfer & Commercialization Program. Based out of the Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas, Walt works with businesses, startups, co-founders and Investors to help them leverage NASA developed technology for commercialization into proven products and services as well as mapping industry capabilities back into the NASA mission. Walt has served as the NASA Executive on Loan to the Houston Technology Center (HTC) connecting and advising many of the HTC client startup companies and continues to support many technology innovation hubs in Texas and across the Nation. Walt’s experience in fostering Public/Private collaborations has led to agreements across various Department of Defense Innovation Initiatives and Programs. Walt also actively engages with academia and was a founding member of the University of Houston-Clear Lake Cyber Security Institute.
